Why Do You Need a Professional Contractor?

If a kitchen is not designed and built properly, you may have to face more expenses down the line to repair or redo the hard work you’ve put into your bathroom. If you plan to knock down walls, general contractors can determine whether those walls are load-bearing, which could be detrimental if they were taken down. Part of taking down walls and remodeling the kitchen space is also making sure it matches the space in the rest of your house.

At 2C, our general contractors have the training and experience necessary to ensure your kitchen remodel goes smoothly. We will help you form a plan from start to finish with considerations of things like the placing of electrical wires and plumbing and traffic patterns. The functionality of a kitchen is one of the most important parts of the remodel. You want to have enough space that is easy to move around in without having to worry about getting bumped as you’re working on a hot stove or chopping up ingredients.

How long will the kitchen remodeling project take from beginning to end?

If the cabinets are on site and ready to go the project length is not that long. Depending on the size of the kitchen it could range anywhere from 6-10 weeks or even longer if the kitchen remodel is highly involved.

What factors can affect the overall cost of the kitchen remodeling project?

The largest factor affecting the overall cost of a kitchen remodeling project is the cost of the cabinets along with any mechanical, electrical and plumbing changes.

Can you help with the design and layout of the new kitchen, or should I hire a separate designer?

When it comes to the kitchen layout we are the experts! However, if you are looking for help choosing paint colors and other aesthetic items we recommend a you utilize a designer to assist in this process.

What types of materials and finishes do you recommend for countertops, cabinets, and flooring?

We recommend quartz countertops and a plywood box cabinet. Some of the finishes you choose should also reflect the state of life you’re in, for example if you have small children, it may be better to go with a painted cabinet over a stained finished material. Regarding kitchen flooring it really depends on the overall completed look you’re going for, the top 3 flooring types we install in kitchens are hardwood, tile and luxury vinyl tile.

Will I need to relocate appliances or plumbing during the remodeling process?

If you plan to completely change your existing kitchen layout most likely it will involve the relocation of plumbing and other items. However, if your new kitchen layout has minimal changes from the previous one you may not require many plumbing changes if any.

How do you handle waste disposal and debris removal during the remodeling project?

Prior to any project starts we utilize temporary protection to protect our path of travel to the main remodeled area. Additionally, we install temporary walls around the area we are working in to seal off dust from spreading through the rest of the house. Depending on the complexity of parking and space in the existing driveway we will either use a dumpster or our dump trailer to remove debris from the site.

Can I live in my home during the kitchen remodel, or will I need to make other arrangements?

If you ask anyone who has lived in their home during a remodel or any other small project, it is not ideal to live in the same space construction work is being done. Especially, with the work from home era, the amount of noise required while using power tools for demolition and installation makes it unpleasant to be in the house during the entirety of the project. We recommend our clients make arrangement for another living situation during remodels if they are able.

What should I do to prepare my kitchen and home before the remodeling work begins?

All kitchen utensils, dishware and other items should be removed from all cabinets prior to the contractor arriving on site to start the project. Also, if there are any large items in the pathway to the kitchen they should be temporarily removed in order to give as much space as possible for travel back and forth with materials and tools.
